Where is it?

Camp Texlake is about a 45 minute drive from Austin. It is only accessible by driving through Pace Bend Park. You’ll check in at the ranger booth, let them know you’re going to an event at Camp Texlake. No entrance fee is required if you tell them you’re going to Camp Texlake. Drive 2.5 miles down the road and then the entrance will be on your left. You’ll see some balloons and a sign.

What do I do when I get there?

We will set up a check-in station at the camp entrance parking lot. The check-in station will contain information including a map, itinerary, cabin assignments, etc.

What will my expenses be?

Nothing! Just get yourself there and we will have food, drinks, and a place for you to stay the entire weekend.

Should we get you a gift?

No, please don’t get us any gifts. Showing up is enough of a gift! We also live in a small New York apartment that can’t fit any more stuff, so if you get us a toaster we will sell it on Facebook Marketplace.

How do I get there?

Your best bet is to drive; you may be able to hitch a ride or rent a car with other people who are going.

When is it?

The event starts the afternoon of Friday, September 29th 2023 and ends the morning of Sunday, October 1st 2023. You can join for any or all activities.

You can show up any time after 2:30 on Friday or any time on Saturday.

What should I bring?

  • Clothes (be prepared for warm weather, possibly with some rain)
    • See mood boards for evening attire
    • During the day you can roam the camp, play games, or do whatever you want. Bring shorts, t-shirt, running shoes etc. if you plan on playing kickball or other games.
  • Hat and sunglasses
  • Swimsuit
  • Sheets and pillow (if staying overnight – all beds are twin beds)
  • Pajamas (if staying overnight)
  • Towel(s) (bath + swimming)
  • Toiletries
  • Flashlight
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Drink of choice (if you don’t like beer or wine)
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Something to tie dye (if you want)
  • Camp chair/hammock (if you want)

Who can I bring?

You can bring a +1 if they’re a serious partner; please don’t bring Tinder randos. You can bring children, but there won’t necessarily be activities or supervision for children provided. You will have to keep an eye on them.

Events

Will events be inside or outside?

Both! Meals will likely be inside, and depending on the weather we will have activities inside and outside.

What will we be doing?

Camp games, swimming, art projects, eating, drinking beer, listening to music, dancing, etc.

Camp Life

Can I bring pets?

The camp doesn’t allow pets. Sorry!

What will we eat?

Friday night we will have tacos and Saturday night we will have barbecue. We’ll also have some good stuff for breakfast and lunch.

What will we drink?

We will have beer and wine all weekend, plus cocktails on Saturday. You’re also welcome to bring whatever you want if you’d like something different.

Where will we sleep?

There will be many options of dorms and cabins which are all equipped with AC, electricity, and bathrooms.

Arrellaga and Shimota families will stay in the dorms and friends will be assigned to cabins (there will be bunk beds).

But I don’t want to sleep in a camp cabin or a dorm!

We can outfit you with a tent if you’d prefer that.

Is there cell coverage and wifi?

Our phones work there. Yours probably will too. There is also wifi.

Can I smoke?

No smoking allowed at the camp. But you can vape if you’re into that.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever is comfortable! Friday night will be “Cowboy Casual” – basically wear something casual with a western theme if you’re feeling it. Saturday we’ll say “Camp Cocktail” – maybe something a little nice but still camp attire. There will be dirt and bugs and uneven ground so don’t wear something too fancy!

See mood boards for inspo!

During the day we will be hanging out and doing activities (swimming, kickball, etc.) so shorts and t-shirt are fine!

Is it wheelchair accessible?

The main dining hall and certain accommodations are wheelchair accessible! Just let us know if you need a cabin that is wheelchair accessible.
